East Gungahlin High School Supporting Road Infrastructure

The ACT Government engaged Indesco to undertake the design and construction phase services for new road infrastructure, active travel routes and landscaping works along Well Station Drive and Albatross Crescent,  as part of providing access to the new high school in Kenny and future Kenny residential estate.

Key features of the project included:

  • An extension of Albatross Crescent into the future estate, connecting Kenny and the new school to Well Station Drive.

  • Re-designed intersection for Well Station Drive and Albatross Crescent, with duplicated carriageway (2 through lanes for both westbound and eastbound traffic), traffic signals, turning lanes into the Albatross Crescent extension and active travel junctions.

  • Enhanced active travel infrastructure, with new paths linking the school and the future Kenny estate to bus stops, the Well Station Drive Park and Ride, Light Rail Station and Flemington Road.

  • Signalisation of the Kings Canyon Street and Well Station Drive intersection creating safe pedestrian crossings and improving traffic flow.

  • A new left in left out emergency access driveway for the high school.

  • New noise walls on the Harrison side of Well Station Drive or on-site treatment to mitigate the noise created by road users.

  • Extensive landscaping works including native trees to augment existing plantings along Well Station Drive, shrub beds along the new noise walls, a streetscape lined with deciduous trees for the Albatross Crescent extension and native swale plantings to treat and make use of stormwater.
